Miniature Grips
For evaluation of shape memory behavior of NiTi bi-layer composite and thin film, the loading-unloading experiment was done by uniaxial testing machine. As the samples were very tiny, regular grips could not hold them. Therefore a Miniature Grips were designed with SOLIDWORKS software and then fabricated with lathe and CNC machine. The body of the grips should have high toughness and strength and the clamps where the samples are held, should have high hardness and wear resistance. Therefore SPK100 which is heat-treatable steel was chosen, and just the clamps were heat treated. To prevent sliding of the sample from the clamps, they were cut zigzag pattern by wire-cut machine. These Miniature Grips can hold any tiny samples with any hardness.
